When Gwen and her husband first stepped into Carousel eBikes in Ocala, they weren’t expecting a love story—they were just looking for the perfect eBike.
As they browsed the showroom, Gwen test-rode several models. At Carousel, trying different frames and tire sizes is part of the experience. “Buying an eBike is like shopping for clothes,” said Dawn Jacobs, co-owner of Carousel eBikes. “You don’t know what fits best until you try it on.”
But something was missing—color.
“I wish it came in purple…”
While discussing options, Gwen sighed and said, “I guess I get white. I just wish it came in purple.” That small comment lit a spark.
Dawn smiled and said, “Follow me.”
Sitting right at the front of the shop—somehow overlooked—was a gorgeous Aventon Abound in deep, radiant purple. It was fully loaded with accessories: a matching cup holder, a stylish pannier bag, and all the personality Gwen was hoping for.
She rode it. She loved it. But she and her husband left—still “thinking about it.”
One Week Later: A Birthday-Style Surprise
A week later, Gwen’s husband returned to Carousel eBikes—this time, alone. He brought a large bow and asked the team to prepare the purple Aventon Abound as a surprise gift for Gwen.
Dawn placed the bow on the handlebars and made a custom sign that read “Gwen’s Bike”, tucking it in just out of view unless you were facing the bike from the back of the store.
Later that day, Gwen walked in with her husband, still under the impression they were just “browsing baskets.” Dawn played along and walked Gwen to the back of the shop, chatting about accessories.
And then Gwen turned around.
There it was. Her dream bike. In purple. With a bow. With her name on it.
“It was one of those moments,” Dawn recalled. “A beautiful surprise, a husband who really listened, and a customer who found the perfect eBike to match her spirit.”
